Potter's Wheel Wisdom
Mission Statement:
As an Author, Speaker, and Mentor, I write and speak my authentic, faith-based stories that resonate, inspire, and encourage. My passion is guiding and encouraging others to discover their stories and tell them, creating a legacy irremovable from history.
My Personal Story:
I am married, the mother of five grown children, and the Nanny to three beautiful granddaughters and one grandson. I served in the U.S. Navy for 13 years as a Navy Radio, Television, and Print Journalist.
Writing
My writing has primarily been non-fiction, research, and technical, but I love creative writing. My devotions and stories have been published in Guideposts, Focus on the Family, Arise Daily, and Crosswalk.com. My U.S. Navy Broadcast Journalist background provides me with public relations, print and radio, and television scriptwriting and technical writing experience. I am presently writing a novel and working on my memoir. Sprinkle in blogging and some poetry, and you will find that my writing experience is vast and my joy.
God called me to write when I was eight years old after reading my first chapter book Heidi; clutching the book to my chest, the Lord placed the desire to write books that would captivate, inspire and even bring a tear to a person's eye."I want to write books like that."
Speaking
Put me on stage or in front of a podium, and He speaks through me. I am a member of Toastmasters International and the National Speaker Association. My speaking topics include God's Call, life transitions, leadership, and faith-based topics encouraging women and men of all ages. My Vision Boards workshops are sought after by churches, organizations, and women's groups throughout the year. Speaking has always come naturally to me; I am the baby in my family and was the entertainer.
As for my speaking and performing - I was a pint-sized producer when gathering the neighborhood kids together for garage plays and presentations. A production of "Swan Lake" and "Pippi Longstocking" were particular hits. I was a Theater major originally in high school and college, but then I found my niche in Radio and Television. Public speaking has been a passion. I love inspiring people to hear God's voice while encouraging them to find His fingerprint in their lives.
My love for words and speaking grew when I served in the military, where I gathered experience on radio and television, but also gathered stories and experiences to use in my writing and speaking.
I graduated from Regent University with a degree in Communications- Rhetoric and Communication Narrative. I worked at Regent University for ten years as the Communications Doctoral Program Assistant and then as Advisor to the program while advising the military and other programs offered at the school.
